Michael Messmore

After Graduation I attended SMCC, UCLA and graduated from Metropolitan College in Denver, CO. While at SMCC I started flying at Santa Monica Airport and was hired at World Airways as a Boeing-707 pilot. After flying through the Viet Nam era (mostly to Viet Nam), I was hired by Western Airlines, which subsequently merged with Delta Air. I retired from Delta in 2006 and the age for pilots was extended the next year and I hired on as a Boeing-747 Captain with Kalitta where I flew for the past 5 years until I have retired again. At Delta I flew only internationally and at Kalitta (Freight only) flew mostly to Afghanistan and China with some Haiti and Italian earthquake relief, doing 2-3 trips around the world every month.

I have led a charmed life, seen the entire world except Antarctica, been to all but a handful of countries and tried the cuisine, wines and beers of them all. We have lived in Toledo, WA for the past nearly 30 years on the Cowlitz River.
I now enjoy restoring old cars, fishing and retirement for the 3rd time. Politics occasions my life randomly. Have 4 wonderful kids and 6 grand kids. My youngest, Anastasia is a senior at the Univ of N. Dakota teaching flying and about to embark on her own flying career. Life is good and I miss all my friends from St. Monica's.......I'm in the book or on line..........
